The Landon Middle School SADD (Students Against Destructive Decisions) club members and members of the Landon Student Council attended a presentation led by School Resource Officer Gene Dixon.
Dixon and his guest, Kansas Highway Patrol Ofc. Hughes, talked to the students about safe driving and the importance of wearing a seat belt every time they ride in the car.
After the presentation, students were invited to go for a ride in "The Seatbelt Convincer," which simulates an auto accident at a speed of five to seven miles per hour.
The kids each got to invite a friend to the session in an effort to spread the word about auto safety to as many students as possible.
The kids had a great time and (hopefully) learned a valuable lesson in the process. Special thanks goes out to Officers Dixon and Hughes for leading the morning's event.
