Highland Park High School Honors Coach Darting

Highland Park High School will hold a special ceremony to rename the school’s basketball court in honor of long-time coach Ken Darting. The naming ceremony will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, January 10th at Highland Park High School’s gym, just before the tip-off of the HPHS vs. Junction City basketball game.

Darting, who has been the head coach for the school’s boys basketball team since 2001, has a very impressive coaching record:

Overall record: 236 wins, 51 losses
Eight Centennial League Championships
25 Tournament Championships
Nine Sub-state Championships
Four Time State Champions
Three Time Runner-up State Champion
’07-’08, ’08-’09 and ’12-’13-  24 wins, 1 loss each year
’06-’07-  25 wins, 0 losses
Career Winning Percentage: 82.2
52 Players offered College Scholarships
Eight time city Coach of the Year
Eight time Centennial League Coach of the Year
Four time KSHSAA 5A Coach of the Year
Three time KCA Coach of the Year
